Village Bell at M.E. Chapel, Kametsu

The Village bell in Japan is generally hung in a Buddhist temple. There are no Buddhist temples in Kametsu, and so the ringing of the curfew and the care of the village bell is commited to our church- the one place, perhaps, in all the Orient of which this can be said.
メソジスト礼拝堂の村の鐘、亀津
日本の村の鐘は一般的に仏教の寺の境内に吊されています。亀津には仏教の寺がありませんから、晩鐘を鳴らすのと村の鐘の管理とは、われわれの教会に委ねられています。—こんな風に言えるのは、おそらく、東洋全体の中でここだけではないでしょうか。
