Village Church, Yontanzan

This is our church at Yontanzan, a village about fifteen miles from Naha. Here about 250 people, all of them farmers, have come out of the darkest heathenism into the joy of believing the gospel. The effect is seen in every part of their lives. Their houses are better kept, they cultivate their farms better, they are in every way more prosperous than their heathen neighbors. They have found godliness profitable unto all things - "with the promise of the life which now is, and that which is to come".
村の教会、読谷山
これは読谷山の我々の教会で、この村は那覇から約15マイル(24km)のところにあります。ここでは250人ほどの人々、すべて農民ですが、その人たちが異教の最も暗い道から抜け出し、福音を信じる喜びを得ています。その効果は彼らの生活のあらゆる部分に見られます。彼らの家はより良く保たれ、農地はより良く耕され、あらゆる面で異教の隣人よりも繁栄しています。彼らは信心が—「今現在の生、および来るべき生の約束と共に」—何事にも有益であるということを発見しました。
