Entrance to Coal Mine

These islands are rich in minerals. This is the entrance to one of the coal mines for which the group is noted. Of the five coal fields which are being operated, the largest is that of Yayeyama. The annual production of coal is at present about 7,000 long tons.

これらの島々は鉱物が豊富です。これは炭鉱のうちの一つの入口で、これらの炭鉱のためにこの群島は注目されているのです。現在操業している五つの炭田の中でも、最大のものが八重山の炭田です。現在、年間約7千英トン*の石炭を掘り出しています。
